Sports : Cambodia’s Badminton Team shines in Southeast Asia Regional Junior Championships

In a stunning demonstration of skill and resilience, the Cambodian Badminton team secured an impressive haul of 14 medals at the Badminton Asia Southeast Asia Regional Junior Championships 2024, held in Laos.

The mixed team events were equally impressive, with the U15 and U17 teams winning one silver and one bronze medal.

These outstanding results showcase the dedication and potential of Cambodia's young badminton athletes and serve as a testament to the country's rapidly growing badminton talent. Cheam Sophea stated that this achievement is a clear indication of the growth and development of Cambodia's badminton resources. The tournament provided a valuable opportunity for the athletes to gain valuable experience for their future careers in the sport.

The Badminton Asia Southeast Asia Regional Junior Championships 2024 brought together athletes from the host nation Lao PDR, Cambodia, Timor-Leste, Brunei, and Myanmar. The competition was divided into two events: the mixed team event for U17 and U15 categories, which included men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles; and the individual event, also for U17 and U15 categories, featuring the same disciplines.

The Cambodian Badminton team's return home with their medals is an inspiration to aspiring athletes across the country. The Prime Minister's congratulatory message shows the nation's pride in their achievements and the government's support for the development of sports in Cambodia.
