Following the incredible success of the previous Weekend Market events at Factory Phnom Penh, the Urban Village Phnom Penh team is thrilled to announce a monthly series of revamped events! They will feature fashion and hype as a full-on component of market events.
Get ready to stroll amongst more than 40 versatile vendors every day! You'll find second-hand, local artisans and creative designers, and so much more. And that’s not all: it's a streetwalk competition, so come along and show off your moves!
"It's always a great pleasure to help new models train and give them advice. I'm looking forward to working with them and giving them my vision of what it means for a Cambodian fashion designer to be 'back in the 90s'," says Muoy Chorm.
"Our Fashion Avenue is not just for the fashion community. The aim is for everyone to come and enjoy the market and its activities: couples, families, children. We want fashion industry players to be in contact with the general public. Fashion is no longer a secular sector in Cambodia", explains Karl Diederich, Head of Business Development at Urban Village.
As Urban Village continues to expand and become busier, with more than 2,000 people living there, it made sense to organise a major event on the theme of fashion. This initiative also aims to support local businesses, independent designers and emerging creative talent, while also ensuring that Factory Phnom Penh remains the capital's main centre of creativity, inspiration and connection.
By re-launching the markets as The Fashion Avenue, Factory Phnom Penh and Urban Village are demonstrating their commitment to supporting the fashion industry. What's more, The Fashion Avenue not only caters for fashion enthusiasts, but will also delight food lovers with a wide choice of food stalls.
Visitors will be able to indulge in the vibrant atmosphere of the event, sampling fine food and enjoying the live bands that will be performing during the event.
As well as the fashion show led by Muoy Chorm, the #streetwalk remains one of the major attractions of this event. EVERYONE can take part in the competition, whether you're an amateur photographer or a visitor! Photographers must register using the Google form below before 6 p.m. on Friday 21 June:
