While Cambodians are using various foreign social media applications such as Facebook, Telegram, Instagram, WhatsApp and so on, a group of Cambodian IT professionals have launched the first Cambodian social media application.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate, mentioned on his social media networks that the first Cambodian social media application is called CoolApp.
"CoolApp, Cambodia's first chat social media application with the same standard as Telegram and WhatsApp, is now available on the App Store and Play Store," he said.
As a leader known for his support and openness to the use of social media, he said that CoolApp has been developed by many Cambodian IT professionals for more than three years since 2021, and has only recently been released.
The former Cambodian prime minister added that CoolApp has many features, including chat and call and video calling, which follow international standards. Data and call data are encrypted and secure using Internet Local (Dix), which makes the call sound clear while pictures and videos are sent quickly.
"CoolApp is the pride of our nation. It is the first Cambodian programme and it is used within the Cambodian security domain," underlined Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
CoolApp is designed to never collect or store sensitive information. Messages and calls cannot be accessed by us or any other third party as they are always encrypted end-to-end, keeping your messages, data and calls secure. Only you and the person you're communicating with can read or listen to them.
CoolApp can be downloaded on five platforms:
