Angkor Wat ranked among the 25 Best Tourist Attractions in the World
“Angkor Wat is a world wonder—and it's not hard to see why. Explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site and admire its architecture and intricate carvings. Many visitors arrive at sunrise, so it is advisable to set your alarm to secure a spot. The guided tour is also highly recommended as it provides insight into the stories and significance behind the landmark”, says TripAdvisor.

The Ministry of Tourism has also extended its congratulations to Angkor Wat for this world recognition, emphasising that Cambodia’s ancient temples continue to amaze travellers from around the world with their magnificent architecture, luxurious sculptures and rich history.

Built in the 12th century by King Suryavarman II (1112-1152AD), Angkor Wat Temple is the largest religious monument in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In a recent poll conducted by Time of India Travel, the temple was voted the eighth wonder of the world, beating Italy’s Pompeii.

The Empire State Building in New York City, the United States of America, has been named the best tourist destination in the world by TripAdvisor, with the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, and the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, also featuring highly.

In Asia, the following locations have been recognised as the eighth, tenth, nineteenth, twenty-second, twenty-third and twenty-fourth wonders of the world: the Gardens by the Bay in Singapore, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre in the United Arab Emirates, the Mutianyu Great Wall in China, the Taj Mahal in India, Petra in Jordan and the Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine in Japan.
